Summer Concert Spectacular
Posted on: July 5th 2016Southgate School kicked off their summer festival of music in spectacular fashion with a day of eclectic student performances and a hugely successful evening concert. Over 100 Southgate students took part in the festival and their talent and passion for music turned it into a truly awe inspiring event.
The week of the concert began with a live performance from the band Stone Hearted, who wowed the crowd during Monday break time and promoted the music festival.
Students were then encouraged to perform in a wide variety of genres and styles, with medals being awarded in each category and a place on the bill at the evening Summer Concert the main prize. The medallists performed brilliantly alongside the school ensembles, giving a voice to many different styles of music.
As well as members of Southgate’s own school community, the concert was attended by pupils and parents of local primary school De Bohun, who will be invited to join the annual Summer Concert in 2017.
Feedback from the concert audience was extremely positive. It was clear from the performances that the students had shown an outstanding commitment to preparing and rehearsing, and the students who performed looked like they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Congratulations to everybody involved in putting on such a wonderful show
