Year 9 Basketball - Borough Champions 2018-2019
Posted on: July 11th 2019In the final few weeks of the summer term, Southgate School became the Year 9 Boys Borough Basketball Champions 2018-19 and by doing so reclaimed the trophy from our last years’ champions. In a highly competitive semi-final, the boys beat a very competitive Edmonton County school and were then given the opportunity to play Ark John Keats in this years’ final.
The final was a fiercely contested game with Southgate taking a strong lead at the halfway point. Ark John Keats showed grit and determination to stay in the game, but Southgate were just too strong in the final half, winning 40-27. Special mentions go to Ziko Tomlinson-Short who was playing a year group up and Benga Raji who scored 12 points on the night.
