Year 7 Rugby boys take on Allianz Park

On March 16th a team of year 7’s were taken for their first competitive rugby event at Allianz Park. This was a developmental tournament where the students played 12minute long, 10 a side games against a number of other schools. Our students started exceptionally well showing strength in their tackles and speed on the wing scoring 4 tries in their first game. Students were guided through the process of 3 man scrums and lineouts that were added into each game. The Southgate team went from strength to strength in each game, showing clear understanding and discipline when faced with tough opponents.
The students thoroughly enjoyed getting the opportunity to play at the stadium, home to Saracen’s professional Premiership team, and can’t wait to continue developing their rugby talent through extra-curricular clubs at school. The Year 8’s have their turn to compete on 30th March.
