A LEVEL SUCCESS OPENS DOORS FOR SOUTHGATE SCHOOL SIXTH FORM STUDENTS
Posted on: August 13th 2026Students at Southgate School Sixth Form are looking ahead to the future after achieving a strong set of A Level results and securing places at universities, apprenticeships and employment opportunities across the country.
The school, located in Oakwood, Enfield and part The Middlesex Learning Trust, is congratulating students as they collect the results that mark the end of their post-16 education and the beginning of the next chapter in their lives.
This year's cohort will now progress to a wide range of destinations, including the Universities of Cambridge, Warwick and Durham as well as highly sought after degree apprenticeships and employment sectors.
Overall, more than half of the cohort of Year 13 achieved A-B grades at 52% with over a fifth achieving A*-A grades. Southgate School Sixth Form also recorded exceptional outcomes in a wide range of subjects including Art, Product Design, Computer Science, Politics, History and Theatre Studies where over two thirds of grades in those subjects were A*-B. Student performance in our Level 3 Vocational Courses was also highly impressive; this includes Health and Social Care, Media and Business.
These results reflect the hard work and determination shown by students throughout their studies, alongside the support of staff, families and the wider School community.
Among this year's achievements:
- Ertan Dursun who successfully achieved 2 A*s in Maths and Further Maths and 1 A in Physics and has secured his place to study at the University of Cambridge
- Sebastian Savva who successfully achieved 2 A*s in English Literature and Government and Politics and 1 A in History and has secured his place to study at The University of Durham
- Eleftheria Smyrnaiou who successfully achieved 2 A*s in Biology and Psychology and 1 A in Chemistry and has secured her place at Imperial College London
- Flynn Appleby who successfully achieved 1 A* in Theatre Studies and 2 As in English Literature and Geography has secured his place to study at the University of Leeds
- Marianne Flouri who successfully achieved 1 A* in Maths, 2 As in Further Maths and Physics and 1 B in Biology has secured her place to study at the University of Warwick
We are also incredibly proud of our students who secured places on highly competitive apprenticeships and vocational training opportunities, most notably, Sava Rabinskas, who went through 4 rounds of interviews to achieve his place on the Palantir Meritocracy Fellowship. These rare (and salaried) roles are only awarded to exceptional candidates who have demonstrated the skills, knowledge and aptitude to work alongside experienced engineers in a world class organisation.

This has been a truly joyful morning for students and staff at Southgate School!
I am delighted to see so many of our Year 13 students gaining the success their efforts have deserved and the happiness it has brought them and their teachers today. With Cambridge, Durham and some of the highly esteemed London and Russell Group universities included in the destinations, we take immense satisfaction in seeing so many of our students' progress to their first-choice institution. Our staff see this as the culmination of 7 years of education at Southgate and take great pride in these outcomes and the development of our young people.
