Inspirational Southgate Sixth Form students hard work and dedication pays off with outstanding A Level results
Posted on: September 1st 2015Staff and students at Southgate School are delighted to announce outstanding results for A Level with 100% achieving A*-E grades, up 2 percentage points on last year and above national average. Students’ hard work and dedication to their studies have set the foundations for exciting future careers.
There have also been numerous successes across a wide range of departments at Southgate School, with 100% of students studying English Literature and Business Studies attaining A*-C grades; 82% of students studying Chemistry and Drama secured an A*-B grade; and over 70% of students studying History, Maths and Psychology achieving an A*-B grade.
The School’s committed approach to helping students achieve their full potential means students have secured places at a wide range of prestigious universities across the UK including Cambridge, London School of Economics and Political Science, University College London and Bristol.
There have been some exceptional individual performances: Helena Stylianou has secured a place at Cambridge University to study Economics after achieving A* grades in Economics, Physics and Maths as well as an A in AS Level Further Maths. Will Smith gained A* grades in Chemistry, Biology and Maths and has been accepted into Cambridge University to study Medicine. Abeku Koomson has ambitious plans for the future having achieved A* grades in Chemistry, Biology and Maths as well as an A grade in AS Level Physics.
Southgate School’s Cambridge Technical Diploma in Media students have also achieved exceptional results. Buse Beysungu, Dorest Qavolli, Sotiri Panaos, Alexander Nicolaou, Scarlet Harris, and Joseph Conlon were rewarded a double Distinction* and James Cameron a double Distinction in the Double Award. Tiffany Van Langenberg achieved a Distinction* in the Single Award.
These incredible results are a reflection of the School’s continued commitment to creating independent, innovative learners; and with ambitious plans for their future Southgate School look forward to seeing their successes continue.

These set of results clearly show that Southgate School has a high achieving Sixth Form. There are exciting plans for September with a new Sixth Form Centre, a wider range of A Level subjects plus more enrichment opportunities. Strong partnerships with universities and businesses and the Southgate Futures Programme will offer their students additional opportunities over and above the standard curriculum and will inspire them for careers and higher education.
Southgate School provides a strong, dynamic education in which students are valued as individuals within a culture of celebrating achievement. Southgate Sixth Form offers students’ academic rigour and challenge, as well as providing them with the grounding and opportunity to be the leaders of the future. Students have a range of choices with over 20 A Level courses on offer. Work in the Sixth Form is demanding and student achievement and attainment is high.
