Southgate School celebrates students GCSE achievements

Staff and students at Southgate School, part of Middlesex Learning Trust, are celebrating another year of excellent results for students. We are incredibly proud of our students, who are now looking forward to progressing onto A Level or Level 3 vocational courses, or indeed a mix of both, with us.

Students and staff have worked exceptionally hard to secure these grades over the past couple of years, overcoming the disruption of the early years of their time with us caused by the pandemic through dedication and hard work.

Alongside the continued success of Southgate School, particular individual highlights include:

  • Eylam Yavuz, who deserves a particular mention for gaining grade 9s in every subject bar one, so that her average points score is an incredible 8.9!

Eylam was closely followed by Eleftheria Smyrnaiou with an outstanding average points

score of 8.7 and Charlotte Grant and Sonali Tailor, both of who secured an average points

 score of 8.6!

Indeed, there were numerous remarkable performances from so many students. Teodora Apostol, Lara Luka, Kareena Duggal, Ertan Dursan, Demetri Nicolaides, Marianne Flouri, Orla Holland, Milena Yancheva and Esmee Sharie all gained average point scores of 8+ which is a real testament to their ability and industry.

It is hard to pick out any one subject for particular praise, as all staff worked so incredibly hard to help students fulfil their potential, but we are especially delighted with the outcomes of our Mathematics and Geography departments and buoyed by the continued success of Art and Design and Technology as our students continue to choose creative subjects for their futures.

Martin Lavelle Headteacher at Southgate School, said:

I am so pleased by our outcomes this academic year. To see the overwhelming majority of our young people achieve their potential is truly rewarding; a tribute to their resilience and effort and the professionalism of our staff. I am also delighted with the ever-increasing numbers of students who choose to stay on into our sixth form or indeed, to join us from other institutions. We fully believe that all of them have very bright futures!
